My new suet basket. It was on sale today for $3.00 at PetSmart!
I had a basic suet basket for over a year. I used it outside my office window with no problems.
Then we moved. It hung outside my window for 10 months with no problems. Recently, the local Mini-Moochers emptied it, ripped off the chain and clamp, then threw it in the pond! I refilled it and hung it, only to find it missing the next morning!
I'm screwing the new basket to the tree!!!
The first day that our suet cont. was up, the animals took it off of the post and opened the door and ate or took all of the suet block. So we had to wire it to the post and wire the door closed. It does take longer to fill, but it is still on the post.

I am not going to wire this one shut... just permanently attach it to the tree... at a height where we all can easily take turns filling it! I'm gonna take the cute little copper roof off so we can just fill it from the top! I really need a camera with night vision pointed at this thing... I think the Mini-Moochers are racoons... without a camera, I'll never know.. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI tried to screw it to the tree~ no luck~ that tree is rock-hard!!! Instead I hung it on my front 'porch'... it's full of tortills, peanut butter and old doritos... we'll see what happens tonight!!!
