1611 KJV. Genesis 6:1-7
"[1]And it came to passe, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were borne vnto them:
[2]That the sonnes of God saw the daughters of men, that they were faire, and they took them wiues, of all which they chose.
[3]And the LORD said, My Spirit shall not alwayes striue with man; for that hee also is flesh: yet his dayes shalbe an hundred and twenty yeeres.
[4]There were Giants in the earth in those daies: and also after that, when the sonnes of God came in vnto the daughters of men, & they bare children to them; the same became mightie men, which were of old, men of renowme.
[5]¶ And God saw, that the wickednes of man was great in the earth, and that euery imagination of the thoughts of his heart was onely euill continually.
[6]And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieued him at his heart.
[7]And the LORD said, I will destroy man, whom I haue created, from the face of the earth: both man and beast, and the creeping thing, and the foules of the aire: for it repenteth me that I haue made them."
This section of Genesis, although generally overlooked in most churches, is quite interesting. The angels "took" the daughters. That does not imply the consent of these women.
For as in:
1611 KJV. 1 Corinthians 11
"[10]For this cause ought the woman to haue power on her head, because of the Angels."
Because the angels are so tempted by the beauty of the woman's hair, she must cover it. If we tempt the angels we may also be taken. The head covering commanded is to protect us, not keep us in subjugation!!
Does your church teach head covering for women? Do they teach based on these verses?
Or . . .
On women remembering to keep to their place?
