68% Savings at Menards!!

This morning before work I went on a tiny shopping trip at Menards on Alexis Rd. I wasn't desperately in need of anything, although we were down to one (1) backup roll of TP . . but my rebate check was calling me . . so I ventured out, grabbing my trusty coupon binder!

My goal was to buy TP that was on sale and attached to some amazing new rebate offer then apply a manufacturer's coupon and pay in full with my current rebate check . . 

Then reality checked in . . 

TP was not on sale and there weren't even any ordinary rebates attached. 

But .. 

I was able to still do well . . 

*12 rolls Northern ultra plush TP    $7.49 

*Menards rebate check                    -$4.88

*Manufacturer's coupon                  -$0.50

82.93% Savings at Old Navy!!!

Wow! We stopped into Old Navy to splurge on a $5.00 t-shirt for Matt and stumbled upon a fabulous sale!
We were able to purchase all four (4) of these really nice t-shirts valued at $62.81 including tax before the sale and only spent $3.68 after taxes!!!
That's a savings of $59.13 or 82.93%
I encourage you to venture out into the cold and head over to Old Navy before the sale racks are empty!!!

34% Savings at CVS

I just couldn't resist even though I had no manufacturers coupons with me. I went in for the deal in milk~ $1.69/gallon after CVS bucks :)
Then I saw coffee (CofFeE) on sale!!!! WooHoo!!!!!!! The Folgers and Cafe Bustelo were on sale for $2.99/each!! Wow!!!! Of course I stocked up and now have enough coffee for a while. Yea!!

Did I Really Save Money?

Hi! Wanted to share with you what I discovered.
In purchasing vitamin D3 I apparently found a sale and purchased the wrong dosage. I somehow errantly bought 400 EU tablets.
I was prescribed 8000 EU per day and normally purchase my vitamin D3 in 2000 EU gel caps. That means I have to take four (4) per day. No big deal. With this mis-purchase I am having to swallow TWENTY tablets per day!! That's a Lot of pills!!! My poor stomach is not pleased, even when I take half in the morning and half in the afternoon.
This may have been a sale item and, based on dosage calculations, I may have saved money . . But at what cost? Ugh!! :(

59% Savings at CVS!!!

Hey, welcome back to my extreme coupon extravaganza!!
And you may ask, did I really need more coffee? And my immediate response is that you can never have too much back-up coffee!! But, in reality, I was trapped in a bizarre coffee nightmare.
This us what happened, and I must say I can't believe I did this. First I found a bag of coffee beans at Power Connection and thought I'd struck gold . . . I totally failed to read beyond the word "coffee" to see the word "decaffeinated". I do not drink decaffeinated beverages because of the decaffeinating process and the chemicals used, so, had I bothered to read further, I would have left that yummy smelling bag of poison for someone else to treasure!
I drank six (6) cups of that amazingly delicious poison every day for three days, all the time wondering why I was lethargic. Finally, I happened to be the one to set up my morning coffee (I'm spoiled by Matt whom loves to set up my coffee and really loves grinding coffee beans) and I read the bag (habitual reading addiction).
Ooooo, Gross!!! I'd been guzzling down toxic yummies for three (3) days!!!!!
An easy remedy was to buy different coffee. I did at Menards, but the vanilla flavor was too strong (yes, I have issues). I was so excited when I saw that CVS had Gevalia coffee on sale for $4.99, a $4.80 savings. Sweet, huh?!!! Then I dug through my new coupons and found one for $1.00 off one bag of Gevalia coffee. WooHoo!!!
I must admit this was strictly a sale price stacked with a manufacturer coupon. I do think that, considering the fact that I am almost completely starting over from virtually no coupons, I'm doing pretty well.

50% Savings at Jo Ann fabric!!

Wow! I really needed raspberry thread for my Will County Fair project so I grabbed the coupon in the Sunday paper and headed to Jo Ann fabrics on Plainfield Rd. A really helpful young lady happily helped me match thread colors to fabric color. The thread was only $1.99 and my coupon was 50% off a regularly priced item. I know I only saved $1.08 total, but

Couponing at CVS

Okay, here's a brief description of my couponing process.
Step #1 is to accumulate coupons from area stores. I like the way I can stack coupons at CVS so I stopped there to pick up my Sunday papers. This handy little machine likes to give me store coupons I can stack on top of sales, manufacturers coupons and any rebates I may find online.
Step #2 is to buy your Sunday newspapers. Generally I like to buy three (3) of the local paper (the Joliet Herald), but have found the Chicago Tribune has different coupons so I sometimes buy both. HINT: always make sure there is a complete set of coupons in each newspaper you purchase!!
Next, I must let you know the manager at the CVS at 809 Plainfield Rd told me that CVS does not include their sales flyer in Sunday newspapers to every zip code. As my zip code is one CVS is, IMHO, not encouraging to shop in/share our money with their stores, I have to grab a sales flyer each week while in the store. A bit inconvenient, but I love to stack those coupons!!!

46% Savings at CVS

Well, my final stop (bleary eyed) was at the CVS at 809 Plainfield Rd. Let me tell you, I was already sleepy as I walked in the door and seriously regretting my coupon shortage. I really like to walk into CVS with a distinct game plan and tonight I had none.
I did make it through alive and was so happy to find Gabriel at the register. This young man is extremely kind and polite. He was even willing to help me with mistakes I made matching coupons to items!!

114% Savings at Menards!!

Okay, so first I had to tell Matt you really can spend your money more than once!! Well, you can spend it repeatedly . . . If you shop at Menards!!
So, I had a new water heater put in a couple months ago plus did a little shopping. This all added into a sweet rebate check for approximately $47.00.
Now, I must say I didn't use the rebate check as carefully as I'd like. After throwing away so many expired coupons, my binder was almost completely empty. Not too easy to use coupons that don't exist!!
I was, however, able to match up $5.25 in coupons to store items at reasonable prices we will actually use.
114% savings isn't bad under these coupon-impoverished circumstances!!!

15.43% Savings at Dollar Tree

Well, I'm back into my coupons again. Have to admit I threw away a plastic grocery bag of expired coupons last night. A good six (6) months of pure waste.
Anyways, I'm back at it again. My trip to Dollar Tree was unexciting as they carry mostly off brands so rare coupon options. I will be watching for coupons for the name brand items they do carry, though, so we can at least stock up on those.
Meanwhile, we did end up with four (4) nice bars of Oil of Olay soap, a bottle of Coke and a bag of Jolly Ranchers for our trip to the movies!

Mini Extreme Coupon Moment at CVS!

Hi! Welcome back!! Well, It's official! I'm once again addicted to extreme couponing!! Tonight Matt and I stopped at CVS and did pretty well (for just getting restarted!). Last night I carefully paired eligible coupons with the CVS sales flyer. My coupons are not yet neatly in my binder, but loose in a plastic bin. I literally had to check every coupon in comparison with each page of the flyer! So, yes, it was a chore, but a good one. And, in walking away from the register, a very worthwhile chore! Total Savings = $26.63 52.05%

Extreme Couponing~ Regrouping Efforts...

This is what happens when you buy 3+ newspapers every Sunday for coupons, but don't clip the coupons/ throw away the newspapers! After weeks of collecting these I truly must become an extreme couponer again! All these must be clipped and sorted this week. I intend to get the majority done today!!!

My Coupons

Well, Good Morning! Welcome back. As I have a morning appointment at Matt's school (IEP time), I took some time to dig through my poor neglected extreme couponing binder. What a mess!!! So far almost every coupon in it is expired! I guess I'll be mailing a lot of coupons to my coupon-buddy at Coups for Troops! That will be a blessing for Lara and the friends she shares with. On the down side though, I (and my job) lost out on a lot of great deals. Now I need to get current coupons into my binder so I can easily match these with deals in local fliers. It's a huge job to get started/ back on track, but once there, I'll be set (as long as I can find time to keep it up!).

Attack of the Coupons!

I am trying to match up coupons with fliers, but am so far behind that I may be up all night! Here I sit with a three inch high stack of coupons to cut and sort~ UGH! During the time of transition a while back, I almost completely quit cutting and sorting coupons. The transition eliminated my dedicated time for this project and I just left it that way. I guess I figured the savings provided were unwanted. Regardless, I have started couponing again and am enjoying the challenge! I'm Back!!!
