Kudos~ Audrey Weymers at Waffle House!!

I have to tell you about the excellent service I received at the Waffle House on Reynolds Rd in Toledo. On Sunday I took my son and my Mom to brunch. As usual we went to our favorite Waffle House but this time we received even better than normal service.
Our waitress was Audrey Weymers, a new waitress, and she was exceptionally good! She was attentive without being intrusive, corrected a glitch in our order quickly, kept my coffee cup full and checked on us a couple times.
As I sit here I wonder at exactly what it was that made her service special . . I think maybe because she actually cared whether or not we enjoyed our visit.
Normally I tip around $5 regardless of the bill. I start at $5 as I'm seated then add/subtract as the meal progresses. I don't remember ever tipping over $5.
Audrey received $7.

Kudos Amanda at Waffle House!

This morning a friend and I visited Waffle House and were truly spoiled! Amanda was our waitress and she happily listened to stories and events repeated over and over beautifully feigning surprise and delight with each and every telling. The love, compassion and kindness that she showed my friend was touching.
If you have a friend or relative who is a senior (or even special needs) then a meal served by Amanda is what you want.

Olay Beauty Bar~~ ultra moisture with shea butter

I don't often recommend products, but I have to say I stumbled on this and love it!!
Now I must say that, no matter what I use to wash my face, I absolutely have to moisturize afterwards (even with my beloved Dove bar!!). But, this bar of Olay is so nice. I mean really nice!!
It smells like a soft semi tropical dream where you are showering under a warm waterfall wth beams of sunshine dancing around you!!
Honestly, sometimes I wash twice just so I can enjoy this soap a little longer!!

My First Crazy Quilt

A 15 minute break in my car . .
A few stitches . .
And about four (4) phone calls later . .
God blessed our future with a wonderful woman, Sonia Perez, at Aunt Martha's . .
After I hung up . .
All I could do was sit and cry . .
Thanking God for opening this door!!!
He is always good and always on time!!!!!

Crime-Solving Adventure

A peaceful homestead . .
Sweet son sleeping in as he has a half day . .

8:09am~ driving west on Cass St I saw the vehicle associated with one of the buildings where I work being stripped of plumbing (robbery happened yesterday) . . . he was buying gas at the Shell Station at Henderson Ave . .
~I called 911 and pulled over to watch him . . alerted 911 dispatcher that he left the gas station and was headed south on Henderson . . . she let squad cars know . .
~ as soon as I could I followed him (2 red lights behind) . . caught up with him at Richards St and there was a squad car sitting next to him . . obviously the officer heard the call because, as soon as the white Town car with a Vermont plate turned left the squad car through on the lights and pursued!!
~ yes, I was doing my *embarrassing happy dance* as I drove and singing "happy day, happy day!!" :)
~ I followed the squad car so I could identify the driver as the thief . .
~ this allowed me a bit of time for quilting . . .
I have to say KUDOS to the Joliet Police Department dispatch operator and the officers who were at the traffic stop/pulled him over and dealt with him~~ very sincerely courteous, kind and professional handling of this!!!

A Simple Act of Kindness

Yesterday I received my bank debit card and FOID card in the mail from someone I never met before. An act of kindness and selflessness that astounds me in this day and age.
Now, before you panic, I lost both of these a few years ago in my house. I was sorting documents and set both aside together planning to put these in a secure location later. Mid-sorting I had to stop so all my work ended up back in one big heaping mess again.
When I realized both cards were missing I simply canceled each and ordered a replacement as I didn't have time to look for each. I really figured these were in some corner of my home laughing at me for not being able to locate them!!
Recently my son and I took a lot of boxes of extra clothing and outgrown hiking boots to MorningStar Mission for use by the homeless or to sell in their thrift shop. Apparently the cards were in either Matt's old boots or a pocket in a clothing item. Upon discovering these two (2) cards this amazing woman took time out of her day to mail these to me!!
I am grateful these were returned and not use to steal my identity. I am chuckling and smiling and have no real way to repay her kindness. I am, however, about to pen a very grateful thank you and mail it tomorrow.
There still is hope for this world!!

Joliet Police Helping Injured Dog on Rt 6

On October 4, 2014, as Matt and I were driving home, we came upon this scene. There was a large dog wandering in the westbound lane of Rt 6!
It was nice to see Joliet Police Officers take the time to stop all traffic from both directions in order to rescue the poor dog. The officers were patient and kind. . .
