Housing the Homeless to Cut Emergency Room Expenses . .

       Now, this is a good idea! Love the fact that someone was willing to research outside the box and find an idea that will begin to ease the plight of those who are homeless.
       Once they are in housing other services can be implemented. Social services will of course be involved, but what about churches providing a buddy for each? You know, that one person that includes each in their daily life . .. Laundry day, grocery shopping, sitting at the park  . . . . when a person is down on their luck this person is a critical component to moving ahead.
       Imagine if every community embraced this concept!!

So, your sitting in your living room watching Living Dead and an EMP finally goes off. No biggie, right? Your are totally prepared!
Or are you?
Have you pulled out your U.S. map and and located all adult and juvenile detention facilities within 50-100 miles of your homestead?? Why this distance? As we go to work and workout in our "down time", prisoners have almost a 24/7/365 ability to physically prepare!! They could easily cover 20 miles in a day, making a 100 mile hike (daunting to us!!) a mere five (5) day walk. No big deal to them!!!
And what happens when the power goes out? The backup plan in prisons appears to be lanterns, flashlights and generators . . . none of which will work after an EMP.
Are you prepared to have the local inmates in your home??!!!

'Year Without a Summer' Remake??

Are we heading into a 'year without summer' remake? As drought grips much of the world Chicagoland  is seemingly locked into terminal winter weather.
This morning it was once again raining and snowing as I walked to my car. This mixed mess morphed into light snow and has been off/on all day. The ground appears to be too warm for the snow to stick for more than a few minutes at best thankfully and it's currently 42*F here with a projected low of 25*F tonight!
I am seriously wondering if this will ever turn to typical spring weather?
If the majority of the world is suffering drought thus growing no crops . . .
And we are stuck in perpetual winter . . .
