My First Crazy Quilt ~ All Tied Off!!!
This is so exciting!! I can't believe I am almost finished with this quilt!!
My last completed hand sewn quilt was a Grandma's Flower Garden quilt I made for my daughter in 1987, while I was pregnant. Twenty eight years later I'm back to quilting. Nice :)

Ties on My First Crazy Quilt
Well, I'm almost half way done with the ties and sure am wishing Grandma's crazy quilt wasn't packed away. I'd love to study her technique!!!

My First Crazy Quilt
Time to tie it off . . I've never done this before so looked in all my quilting books. Only the "Amish Quilts" book even mentions this stage and only says "at regular intervals".
I've decided to use the width of my fist as my guide. . I'll post as soon as I get some ties done . .

My Paid Work~Out Program ~~ Sabbath Day

Saying "I'm Sorry"
Why is it so difficult to simply say "I'm sorry" and move on?
In any relationship it takes both parties to make it work or fail. Both are responsible. Whether it be poor communication, lack of honesty or maturity, both parties have an impact on the success and longevity. I think, IMHO, that any problem can be resolved by pulling together.
And, when people from a failed relationship reunite, for whatever reason, rather than anger and blame there needs to be a concerted effort to talk through past issues quickly and come to an understanding that both parties have, hopefully, changed for the better.
With a nice long talk and patience a lost relationship can be restored.

Sabbath Supper
For our Sabbath supper I have chicken leg quarters started in the oven. I seasoned with fajita marinade and curry paste then topped with stewed whole tomatoes, chipotle corn and green beans. It's all nestled into our roaster and the oven is set at 200*F. It will cook very slowly all night so Matt has food while I'm at work tomorrow and we both have a nice supper tomorrow night!
This type of meal is going to be our regular Sabbath fare as it is simple to prepare ahead and quite delicious. Also, it provides sufficient food to get us through the Sabbath without cooking during those hours (I am really only counting prep time before I goes in the oven as it's self-sufficient after that!!).

Homestead Ramblings
Home and laundry going . . what is it about being home? Peace? Security? Live? Acceptance? All of the above I would say!
I love watching the laundry water flow through my gray water ponds and out through my gardens . .
I am running laundry and washing dishes as Matt hangs new blinds (from Mom) in our family room (he will post pics when finished) . . .
It is so peaceful here today . . so nice to be home during the week . . . a real vacationing experience!!

Rambling from the Homestead
A quiet morning and waking early . .
After failing at three different attempts to invite various people Matt and I saw the early (8:45am) showing of the new "Star Wars" alone . . as we sat in the theater it was nice to be just us, but friendly company would have been nice . . .
Of course the drive home was a discussion of the movie, who we each related most to, how it would affect our future . . . .
On to foraging for firewood . . I thought we'd stop by a friend's house and continue helping clear out his unwanted firewood, but, alas, he had extra cars in his drive [Christmas company?] so on we drove . . .
Our next stop was Oakwood Cemetery where we picked up some kindling and spotted a fallen tree on a mausoleum . .
Free firewood!!!
We will be hauling a few trunk loads home today [prepared for cold weather] . . .
This extra day off is a huge blessing to our homestead . . allowing us much needed rejuvenation and time to catch up on so many tasks!!!

My First Crazy Quilt
Praying and quilting . . as Matt and I watch "Jumanji" he is playing a game on my tablet while I carefully appliqué on the quilt label . . . . . we try to go to a movie when I get an extra day off and we really wanted to go to a discount theater (dollar show) . . apparently all the dollar show theaters are gone :( so, we are going to an early bird showing of the new "Star Wars" tomorrow [early bird as in only crazy people who hate their pillows will be there!!!] . . sometimes we invite friends to join us, but this time it's just us . . . . .

My label is finished. It's very basic, but sufficient. I dedicated this quilt to Lucy Jane (Carr) Joyce as her quilts are my inspiration!!!
