Temperature's Still Falling!

| Well, since 3:01 pm the temperature has dropped from 29F to 23F! So... we are averaging a bit less than a drop of two (2) degrees per hour... at this rate it will be 13F by midnight... hmmmm..... |

| It's so nice to have a son who is willing to help out! Whether he's washing dishes or cutting wood, he always has a smile and a dance move to accentuate the fun of the current project! |

29F in Joliet, IL

| Well folks, in the last 1 1/2 hours the temperature has dropped from 33F to 29F! We are on a quick decline toward our projected -2F for overnight tonight. And with a windchill of -10 to -20F, this cold front is going to be nothing nice!! So far, since we started the fire, the furnace has not kicked on! And, for a bit, the house was getting overly warm. We have entered a critical zone on the homestead. We have to keep the fire properly stoked to keep all rooms toasty and the furnace OFF! From here on until morning I need to be watchful, keeping just the right amount of wood in the stove. Here at the homestead we have turned surviving the 2nd Great Depression into a game: Keep bills as low as possible... Have as much fun as possible... Share what we've learned So you can have fun too!!! |

1000 Marble Challenge~ Weeks 12 and 13

| Yes, we're still at it~ still tracking our weeks~ wanting to ensure discipline is tempered with love and patience~ and real quality time together! |

| As I called Matthew to the 1000 Marble Ceremony, I asked him how well used the last two (2) weeks have been. "Stupendous!" he said, "Because they were fun!!!" And yet, over the last two (2) weeks, we've done a lot of cleaning, sorting and throwing things away~ and, I was very sick with a bizarre sinus infection so that we've skipped two (2) Mommy/ Matthew movie dates... Just goes to show~ life truly is what you make it! It's all in your attitude and perspective? And my son has a truly positive attitude and perspective!!! |

Day 363/ 365

| With the temperature falling to at least -2F tonight, and a windchill of -10 to -20F at best, we've started a fire. Matt has happily headed out back to scrounge firewood to add to the scrap wood we collected. I'm truly hoping to keep our homestead warm and the furnace off all night tonight! I'll keep you posted on how this little adventure goes!!! Stay tuned! |

Finished Hat!

| Tomorrow night we are supposed to have a windchill of -10 to -20F here in Joliet... It will be a very very bad night to be homeless! This one hat could very well mean the difference between life and death for one person... A bit of knitting is such a small sacrifice for me to make... What sacrifice will you make to keep one person from freezing to death on the cold harsh city streets???! |

| As I watch this movie yet again, it occurs to me that I may have missed something God has asked me to do. I think my sense of conviction is in the fact that my attempts at spiritual and physical house cleaning are still somewhat hap-hazard at best. I can say I am drastically improving, but this does not fix the fact that this was to be done approximately two (2) years ago. My rebellion has really slowed down my progress toward His calling on my life. Good to be getting it together. I need to keep His desires in mind above all else! |
