Our Cold Frame

As our weather has already changed to fall temperatures and we're dragging out comforters for bedtime, we know winter will be early this year, cutting our growing season short.
I glance out my back window at the cold frame Matt and I built last summer as an experiment and wonder if I want to try using it this year? I wonder if I am better to put plants in there and have to water out in the cold all winter and will the lid be difficult to lift weighted as it is with long fence posts? Would I be better off to try my hand again at indoor vegetable gardening?
And, as I prepare for my day at work, I think I've decided to do both. Yes, the cold frame may be a hassle after a long day at work, but it may also be a huge blessing and relaxing diversion as Farmer Fred and his crazy harem were! That being said, it's time to lift the lid and add fresh compost then start my seeds. Later, when temperatures fall too low at night, we can replace the lid and secure it against critter invasion.
I think I'd like to add a thermometer and solar lights too!!!
Gardening fun awaits!!!
