Well, hello! Welcome to our edible parkway!
We've planted lettuce, peas, currants, green onions, strawberries and asparagus to share!
We are trying to make sure it is appealing to the eye as well as the pallete. Hopefully, we will finish adding all the edibles soon and can finally mulch heavily!
It will be nice to watch it mature and to offer free fresh produce to our neighbors. Maybe they will be convinced to plant an edible parkway, too.
Could you plant at least one edible in your parkway and ask your neighbors to do the same?
Sounds like a neat idea.... my only concern being the carbon monoxide from automobiles getting on the food. Would it wash off?
ReplyDeletewell, I don't really know... but carbon monoxide is everywhere... and the farmers plant along the road if that is what the field butts up to... it would work the same as tire dust, acid rain, ect. ... only so many things we can control... but this would provide food which is a critical issue right now... without opening up your back yard to strangers... it would delight me to no end to have people wander by to harvest a fresh dinner in my parkway!
