Isn't it amazing how something as simple as a 'short' road trip with a good friend can completely change you perspective on everything?!?!
And, as I review the last statement, I am wondering if it really did change my perspective on everything? While it did rev up the pace I intend to work at/ MOTIVATED ME, I think my overall goals are still the same.
Going 'home' is a returning to my roots and a reminder of the future that makes me most comfortable. It's not too far off from where I was already headed, but Mom's house reminds me of the creature comforts I grew up with and, obviously, took for granted so much that, as I intentionally did not reach to achieve these, missed each more than I realized.
Our home, here in Joliet, has been so much about making sure Matt's comfortable (over the last three years) that all my dreams have pretty much gone by the way side. I mean, I still work at my dreams in bits and dribbles, but not giving any my whole hearted attention. As a parent making sure my child gets the education he needs and deserves as well as making sure his home life is accomodating to his needs is a high priority. And with a special needs child, even more so.
At this point Matt seems to be very well settled in his school environment as well as Boy Scouts and Venue (Junior and Senior High Youth Group) at church, so it's finally time for me to begin to move ahead on my dreams!
With weather finally warming I can begin to transplant in order to relandscape my entire lot! Too fun!!! Going for a yuppy appearance from the street with A Lot more privacy. And, inside the perimiter? Total comfort.
And inside my humble home? Finish all started repairs as soon as I finish the living room redo. I absolutely have to have that room presentable/ drop dead gorgeous when the front door is open!!! After that I have a few projects that were started and just need finishing touches.
I think the goal here is to have the house ready to put up for sale by Fall 2013, but also have it absolutely perfect in case we decide to stay. As much as we'd love to live on a farm in a county with less restrictions than Will County, the next few months will decide what choice will be made.
This is also, obviously, a matter to be prayed on heavily.
The Lord gets the final deciding vote!
