111th Will County Fair, 2014
As I've wandered the fine arts building at the Will County Fair I am truly amazed all all the beautiful projects created. There really is some true talent here!!!
I must tell you that the photos I've snapped are not just those winning ribbons. Rather, I took photos of anything that caught my eye. Some because I will have these to look at as I prepare my entries for next year. Some because they are so gosh darn cute. Some because I have friends I thought might want to see what I'm seeing and be inspired with me!!
I would live it if you would share photos from your county/state fair and anything you entered. Tips for those entering projects attended the fair would also truly be appreciated...

Psalm 77
As I was deep cleaning very beautiful wood trim 104.7 WBGL mentioned Psalm 77 and how we need to remember all God has already done for us/times He's come through when we lay awake in worry.
This really spoke to me as I have been worrying a lot lately, sometimes to the point of being physically ill from it. There are mornings I wake so worried it takes an hour to calm down and get out of bed!
Then I remember that He may very well be using this uncertain time to strengthen me for what's to come... I'm beginning to think He's got me in some sort of extreme training as though I will be living as though it's 1620...
I know He's always with me and won't give me more than He and I can handle together.
I am quiet and remember all the times He's been there for .e when there was no one else to count on!
Peaceful in His love...

1st Premium at Will County Fair!!!
I am so excited!!!!
My up-cycled dolly won 1st Premium at the Will County Fair!! How cool is that????
It's so exciting to have the quality and design recognized by the judges. There were about five (5) total rag dolls entered. The others all looked to be completely hand sewn, although it's not possible to actually touch these as all entries are locked in cages. I will be making more up-cycled lovies so will save the fanciest to enter next year!!
Also, it was fun to wander the Fine Arts Building looking at all the entries to get ideas for next year. It's all well and good to see the list of possibilities in the Will County Fair Book, but actually seeing items entered perks up the imagination. I also realized there are other areas where I am quite proficient and could easily make and enter a nice project next year.
I also have to admit that I was amazed at how few entries there were in some categories like home canned foods and baked goods as I thought there would be way more! And let me tell you, there were So many entries in the Lego and Photography categories! Wow!!! Competition is quite stiff there!!
There were quite a few sets if hats and neither of the hats I entered won anything. I talked to a lady there who said it depends on the judges each year and what they are looking for. I think this year was more intricate stitches where as mine were intricate color patterns, bead work and creative design (I knitted basic tight stitches for warmth for the homeless). I will enter more hats next year, but am not sure if I will knit toward ribbons or not... maybe ;-)
See you at the fair!!

Matt's Fair Entry Won 4th Premium!!
WooHoo!!
Matt won 4th Premium in his division at the Will County Fair!!!
Such an amazing boost for my sweet teen to see his ribbon. After a quick happy dance we wandered to look at the other Lego projects to see what other kids had made and get ideas for next year.
Yup, Matt's now addicted to the fair!!!

Day 230/365
Fresh trimmed grass...
Best buddies waiting...
Clean dishes...
Laundry washed...
All before I left for work... ...
Hostas and Japanese maples waved goodbye as I left for work...
Off for a day of paid workout program and a tiny bit of bookkeeping... followed by a fun and encouraging Avon meeting...

I Dare You!
I dare you... to lay on your back and look up at your toilet tank!
Yes, your toilet tank...
When was the last time you cleaned the underside of it?
Maybe today is a good day to start?
Grab bottle of Scrubbing Bubbles Foaming Disinfectant and layer it on....
Now take five minutes (washing dishes, sipping coffee, folding laundry...?)...
When you return and scrub..?
A fresh clean toilet tank bottom will be your reward!!!!!!!

Waiting for the School Bus
As we wait for the bus for the first day of school we sit on the front patio and Matt chatters about memories of past school days... and the excitement is contagious... and I am grateful as all my worries over heading to work are gone... and conversation moves from passing gas in class to jumping out of a tree to scare the bus driver... the mind of a thirteen year old young man works in mysterious ways..... .....

Foster Care...
Eggplant, squash, cabbage and tomato... humble little homestead garden...
As I wander out back once again my mind wanders to a perfect foster care environment... I would truly love to offer a farm environment... ideally a small hobby farm... say 5-10 acres... partially wooded... a creek is a must for children... good trees for tire swings, ropes to climb, hammocks and hammock chairs... and let us not forget a tree house to make Tree House Masters jealous!... also a 4-5 bedroom farm house... barns... sheds... a place for kids to relax and just be... to dream... read a book in a tree... catch crayfish.... build a dam... daydream...
having lived four (4) years in Bradford, PA, I have to say woods and a creek are a must... having lived on a farm in Belleville, IL as a child and having visited my grandparents' farm in Lockport, IL I can say a farm can do wonders for a child...
Okay, so this is my goal... and I absolutely must succeed... as I pray for His divine guidance and for doors to be opened, I humbly ask for your prayers also.
