Parting Ways . . Genesis 31:49

"1611 KJV. Genesis 31
[49]And Mizpah: for he said, The LORD watch betweene me and thee when we are absent one from another."

Yes, there are times when people must part ways for one reason or another. At these times the separation should be pleasant. This can be difficult, I know.
There are times when we wake up and realize people or situations we ended need to be revisited. But, for this to happen, mutual forgiveness and understanding may be needed. If the parting was on bad terms then, obviously, work must be done to reestablish the broken relationship. I think it takes longer to mend trust than to break it.
A close walk with God can help.

Quilting and Praying and Thinking of You ..

As I sit stitching I am praying/chatting with God about us . . where we were, where we are and where He wants us ..

The movie, "Storks", was very cute. We both laughed and laughed.

10,000 Step/Day Challenge . .

I walked 145,459 steps so far this month ..
As you can see, my surgery the last Sunday of last month really slowed me down!! I am supposed to hit 300,000 steps this month and am currently not even half way there.
Next month, however, is a whole new opportunity!!!

Genesis 31:13

1611 KJV. Genesis 31
"[13]I am the God of Bethel, where thou annoyntedst the pillar, and where thou vowedst a vow vnto mee: now arise, get thee out from this land, and returne vnto the land of thy kindred."

"  . . and returne vnto the land of thy kindred." As I read through this chapter this verse caught my eye and held it. Illinois is the place both my sets of grandparents were from. Illinois is where we called "home" as children because my Father's job transferred us to a new town every four (4) years.
If Illinois is where He is referring then I am already here and there would be no need to pull my eye to this verse.  Could there be another family member it is referring me to? A specific town we should be in?
Time for more prayer!!

Mobile Study Options

Yesterday, as I cleaned an apartment, Matt sat quietly in the car studying. Being homeschooled he can study most anywhere he can find a comfortable quiet spot. This makes it possible for him to enjoy a nice breeze while brushing up on math skills!
And after math? Well I was lucky enough to have him read "Walden" by Henry David Thoreau to me as I scrubbed. That was so nice!!

Genesis 30:29

1611 KJV. Genesis 30
"[29]And hee said vnto him, Thou knowest how I haue serued thee, and how thy cattell was with me."

How do you do your job or uphold promises you've made? Are people blessed by association with you?
As I popped into this app, I was intending to pick up where I'd left off, but God had another idea. He led me back a few verses to this one. As Matt and I sit at several crossroads I believe He is showing me what the work I have put in can provide in our future. When and where I still don't know, but I know our lives will be blessed.

Genesis 30:27

1611 KJV. Genesis 30
"[27]And Laban said vnto him, I pray thee, if I haue found fauour in thine eyes, tary: for I haue learned by experience, that the LORD hath blessed me for thy sake."

How often does God place someone in our lives whose presence brings blessings? I would say more often than we appreciate or realize.
Is a lack of discernment to blame for wasting these precious relationships? Selfishness?
It seems it would be prudent to be more aware of how others affect our lives and treat them accordingly.

What if . . .

Have you ever thought seriously about what life would be like if America was hit with the same level of terrorism as Syria? Are you and your loved ones prepared to do whatever it takes to survive?
As the American economy continues to spiral downward I am looking more and more at way out of the box options for Matt and I. Places we could live in a pinch, sources of food used by our ancestors and divergent income generators.
Life at this point would lack all the amenities Americans take for granted. Things like grocery stores well stocked with fresh food of every description will no longer exist. Hot showers will be only for the rich and the peppers. Many/most employment will vanish.
       Are you ready?
       Can you get ready?

James W. Joyce Memorial Quilt

Hey! Welcome back. I'm sitting here in my car on break cutting patches for a quilt I'm making for my Mom in memory of my brother. (You may remember the post a while back about the quilt and a patch I was stitching for it.)
I've created a design for this quilt and so am now cutting James's suit coat and dress shirts into suitable patches. Tonight I will find an old bed sheet I can use for backing so that the pinning process may begin.
To finally be at this point is so exciting!!!

9 Month Challenge .. pt. 2

      Well, a lot has happened since I started this process/challenge. . .
I've learned that a lot of bad economic things can happen the October directly before a presidential election ..  this has led me to look at our current situation more conservatively yet with greater urgency.  ..
I am also looking ahead at the election itself . . with all the protests and riots nationwide in the last year . . and even at pre-election events ..  I am thinking we should first prepare for the worst on November 6, 2016 .. . by that day it seems a good idea to have at minimum 2-3 solid "get out of Dodge" options ..  this may be a good way (as these are investigated and prepped, to gain serious info for the later 9 month plan. In all honesty, isn't the ideal bug out location also the ideal retirement plan?
Then there is post election planning. . . all candidates should be considered wild cards. . . no president ever does what he says he will do (was JFK even an exception? He is my favorite). . we all need to assume all government benefits will cease immediately upon inauguration. My personal plan is to have as many medical and dental appointments done before December as possible so that any potential health issues are addressed before whomever takes office. Also, one might consider collecting natural/folk/herbal medicine books as well as a solid EMS handbook and as many supplies as possible (as a precaution).  . even if all goes smoothly in 2017 transition, it is always good to have these supplies.
Actually these preps will speed my progress in my 9 month challenge . . each helps me reassess our needs ..
I am also looking at what I want for me for retirement: low cost, hiking, exploring, beach nearby, quiet/privacy, garden option, chicken/duck/rabbit husbandry option . .
More to consider . .
But all items I would find bugging out pre-planned!!

My Hope Quilt Top

It is interesting to watch this quilt change and grow with my life. As my hopes, prayers and dreams change so does the quilt top.

70,000 Step/Week Challenge

I walked 42,875 steps of 70,000. .
Not bad considering my recent surgery.

Spiral Crazy Quilt

As I'm still really sore (not at the incisions, but internally) I am taking it easy today.
Part of my relaxing is working on this quilt top.
   Piecing . .
       Stitching . . .
                 Praying!!!

My War Room . .

As Matt and I sit re-watching "War Room", I am reminded of prayers I've been praying a while. I must admit my prayers for some situations are intermittent at times. But . . I do know that what I pray lines up with God's Word. That is more than half the battle. The other half is always trying to remember to pray His Divine Will over every situation. It's not always easy to accept His Will over my wishes, but it's the best way.
