Psalm 139

As I sat tonight going through old notes from church services I noticed Psalm 139 on my notes from August 17, 2014. The sermon was about saying we want to serve God, but then not wanting to follow through.
I am on a renewed mission of sorts. I absolutely must obey Him. There are things God has called me to and, rather than be an over busy Martha doing everything but obey, I am learning to be a peaceful Mary, obediently listening to Him and obeying.
He sees and hears everything.
I need to obey accordingly.

Reading Jonah. .

Hello there. .
Today, on my lunch break, I picked up my Bible and it opened to the book of Jonah. .
Little did I realize as I began to quietly read, Jonah's story is not dissimilar from mine.
A few years back (yes that long ago) I asked the Lord what I needed to do to move closer to my calling.
The answer I received was simple yet specific. .
And yet, I've pretty much flat out refused to do it completely.
Oh, yeah, I'll start it and almost complete it. . I've done that over and over sporadically. .
But, most of the time I just make lame excuses. . . And wonder why God hasn't fulfilled His par.. .
So now?
Well, my friend, it's time for me to obey.

Lunch at El Camino in Toledo, Ohio

As I sit munching granola bars and dried cranberries for lunch at work I remember the delicious lunch my Mom took us for last Sunday. Yummy!
We all stopped at El Camino Restaurant for lunch. My menu choice was lunch special #1, which was a stuffed pepper, refried beans, a taco and guacamole salad!!! I seriously had no idea it was going to be this much food and was I stuffed when I was finished!!! Suffice it to say, I was not able to eat all of it, but gave it my best shot.
Next time you're in Toledo, you absolutely must give this fabulous restaurant a try!!!

Day 258/365

A day of paid workout and still a bit feverish with the perpetual cough and trouble breathing. . Some Alka Seltzer Plus seems to be helping a lot. . Although I'm still having so much trouble breathing that Matt won't allow me to prep Avon brochures, I do feel like I'm getting better. . .

I am so deeply grateful for the friends I'm close to and those I'm getting to know. . And for a son who watches and listens carefully and is able to differentiate right from wrong. . And so grateful Matt has listened at church and realizes when he's being led down the wrong path. . God blesses a boy whose heart is for Him!!!

Waste in a World of Serious Need

I stopped at the Speedway on Jefferson St in Joliet for a 44oz Coke and couldn't believe what I saw! It amazed me to see an employee take sandwiches from the display and throw these in the trash!!
How sad is it to waste food this way when MorningStar Mission is trying to feed so many homeless and low income families every day!!!
Please, can someone out there explain to me how a corporation as big as Speedway does not have, and enforce, a policy to donate to shelters?!?!?!

Day 247/365

Waking to a stormy day with both Matt and I feeling flu-ish, I keep Matt home from school to rest while I head off to the trenches. . It was a long day and, although I did a thorough job, I was really dragging and felt it as I looked around at my progress. . Honestly, the only reason I went to work was because I knew my boss was coning in to pick up deposit records. . Otherwise? I would have stayed home to sip tea and rest. . . But responsibility called and keeping a job is critical in a world where we're all easily expendable. . . .
