Cloudscaping as the Rain Begins

So far this is a pleasant gentle rain. Sure hoping it stays that way as it passes over yonder hill (my homestead)!

Day 174/365

Good morning! After a delightful rain the homestead smells so fresh!! I truly love the scent of the woods after a rain, don't you?
Okay, so it's Monday and we're waiting at the end of the drive for Matt's school bus which is now two (2) minutes late... it's okay as I don't have to be to work for fourteen (14) minutes to be on time.
Our homestead has quite a few trees and bushes, especially around the perimeter, making it quite woodsy and private. We like both woodsy and private so this is a very good place to live!

Hat #46 for the Homeless 2014

Hey! How's your Sunday going? Our is blessed. We're home from the hospital and Matt 'only' has a hip sprain and contusion... that's a huge relief!!
Now that we're home I'm spoiling my injured teen a bit (only a bit) and catching up on some random cleaning... I must admit I'm enjoying being home...
So, what do you think of this hat? I'm just so not but it is super soft and will be really warm so my goal is accomplished!!!
What one thing are you doing today to help someone in greater need than yourself??

A Visit to Silver Cross Emergency Room

Well, between the fall on the pool edge at boys and girls club and the team building sports at Student Life Ministries, Matt can barely walk and we are currently sitting in the emergency room.. the fall at the pool was just a distracted fluke... participating in the team building was simply wanting to be a part of the fun combined with a desire to impress the girls... LOL... parenting an active teen is never ever boring!!!
So we wait for quick x-rays, just to be sure, then we'll head home after buying more ibuprofen....

Good evening! As I begin I must admit my mind is ''rambling at warp speed", if that's possible... I have so much I'm thinking about right now that my thoughts and ideas jump from one to the other and back faster than I can write down! As we drove Rt 355, 88 and 290 to Austin Ave in Oak Park a zillion feelings, thoughts and ideas ran through my mind... wow!! The city is so cool cuz there's so much there... man this neighborhood actually has a sign saying "no drugs allowed"... can you say scary?!?! But, man this area is pretty! And the smell of compounded intense car fumes~ Ugh (came home with a sinus headache)!!
And I've been thinking more about what I truly enjoy and how that pertains to my future... I truly enjoy auditing books (I totally see why my Dad enjoyed auditing books for Owens Illinois and why it gave him stress/ an ulcer)... and I love helping people think through their problems... there is something about watching someone begin Brett o look at something from a new angle and solve their own problems! Wondering if there's a way to combine these into a job as I age...? Maybe freelance part-time jobs are the answer..? Maybe I could have fun with this! Some auditing/ accounting, counseling, permaculture classes, knitting classes, overnight childcare and running a home bakery... ...?
I don't want to retire. I want to cut back our bills enough that I can live life on my own terms. By the time I am completely ready to put all of this into place Matt will be out of High School and even more independent (is that possible?) So... now is the time for laying all the pieces into place... and so I will keep going forward here on our humble homestead... and, although it may seem like my projects (which appear bizarrely random) aren't accomplishing anything toward this goal, really my method is accomplishing it more quickly than any other would...
And so... well... for now we concentrate on goals for the next twelve (12) months... the next year will be awesomely critical for our goals!! As Matt and I pull it all together we move closer and closer to moving on with our lives and gaining the quality of life we desire and deserve.
With teamwork and prayer we can accomplish anything!!! :-)

Matt's Cancer Free!!!

Well, although the drive to Southwest Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, IL, it was well worth it to know for certain Matt's mole is not cancerous and is, in fact, the variety that never will become cancerous!
Praise God!!!!!!!

Day 170/365

After a very long, busy, odd, happy, running too fast day the light steady rain on the homestead tonight has been so refreshing! And, as I sit here watching "Primevil" on wycc with Matt I realize that all that really matters is being honest, trustworthy, and having integrity. In the end this is what matters. In the end this is what you will be known for~ or known to be lacking.
It's your choice!
