Hi, glad you came to visit. Grab a hot cup of coffee and a cookie and have a seat. Take off your shoes, wiggle your toes and grab a comfy footstool.
l wanted to take a minute to share with you my thoughts/questions in sea level rise. Now, I have to say I'm not a scientist. I'm simply looking at the bigger picture and searching for perspective. If we look at what has happened in the past then compare that with where we are now . . and what do the natural cycles seem to be? Well, that can give us a general idea of what is coming.
You can read here about past weather cycles. It is interesting to see that there are long global cooling and warming trends and that we are currently in a warming trend.
Obviously ice melts in a warming trend. This does seem surprising and alarming to folks and I'm not quite sure why. It is how nature works. So, our polar caps are melting . . that is a lot a water cycled back into use globally. That may be a good thing. Let fresh water from the cap mix in and, hopefully, refresh the water already in circulation!!
So, the ice is melting faster than scientists thought it would. Sometimes they are confused/sad when faced with the fact they are not God so do not know everything.
So, what could the earth look like if both polar caps completely melted? That link looks like a good basic idea of what could happen.
So, how would this affect global populations? These are a few of the possibilities.
Those above are the type of posts that pop up in my Google news feed. Great articles and it's always good to look at things from differing perspectives . . but I need more info!!
How will the ice caps melting affect storms? Well, I think we can all see that the weather is getting more and more erratic and the storms more severe. One week we have polar vortex and the next we're looking at temperatures around 50°F!! 🌪️🎚️⚡
There are so so many studies and articles it is impossible to list them all here so I'll show a few and you can research more if you'd like.
🌋This one talks about how the melting ice can help solve climate change. We could see a lot more volcanoes erupting. So we may experience more volcanic and earthquake activity . . how will this affect your family? How close are you to active or dormant volcanoes??! And what about tsunamis? The earthquakes can trigger tsunamis on lakes as well as oceans!! 🌊⛵
Okay, so the ice caps melt, sea level rises, millions of people have to migrate inland, farmland is lost to coastal flooding, strong erratic hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes and volcanoes are more frequent . . Now what?!! 🌀🌪️🌋🗻⚡🎚️
Hmm . .. the melting ice caps are impacting the earth's crust in huge ways!! *This last link is, IMHO, a must-read, although all are worth your time and attention.*
So what's the best next step for your family? Are you coastal and need to move inland and get set-up nicely with a small working homestead before a crazy influx of migrating coastal hoardes scoop up all available homes, apartments and campground sites??! Would you rather take to the water and set up a cozy live aboard homestead?
Please, I'd love to hear your perspective in the comments section below!!
